About John Thomson

John was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia. He attended Dalhousie University in Halifax, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1973 and a Bachelor of Education in 1974. John taught one year in Nova Scotia and then 3 years in Alberta.
John attended the Alberta College of Art in Calgary from 1979 to 1983, receiving a Diploma in Visual Communications.
From 1983 to 1990, John was employed by
Foothills Hospital as a graphic artist/designer.

John and his wife, Lynn have three children: a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Between 1984 and 2010, John and Lynn owned and operated Old & Crafty, a consignment shop featuring locally produced artwork and crafts, as well as a variety of collectibles and antique furniture.
John currently serves as president of the Cochrane Tourism Association, and as a director of the Cochrane Destination Marketing Fund.
In 2003, John become a licensed real estate associate. From 2003 to 2016, John was associated with Royal LePage. In 2016, John moved to Kidder & Company Real Estate & Property Management.
